Philharmonic

Washington Metropolitan Philharmonic is an auditioned symphonic orchestra comprised of approximately sixty-five professional, semi-professional, and amateur musicians. The Philharmonic performs five regular season concerts each year in Alexandria, Virginia at Bishop Ireton High School and in Washington, D.C. at Church of the Epiphany. Under the leadership of music director and conductor Ulysses S. James, Washington Metropolitan Philharmonic has earned a reputation for performing high quality, adventurous, and interesting musical programs.

Effective immediately, all Washington Metropolitan Philharmonic performances are free and open to the public.  Donations are strongly encouraged.  Click the link below to learn more about WMP's recent move to a free ticket model and what you can do to help keep high quality musical performance alive and accessible in your community.

A Note from WMPA's President About Free Concerts and Donations

WMP rehearses every Sunday evening from 5 to 8 p.m. throughout the concert season. Most rehearsals are held at Bishop Ireton High School in Alexandria, VA.  To inquire about auditioning for WMP, contact Music Director Ulysses S. James at (703) 799-8229 or wmpa@earthlink.net.
