About the WMPA Composition Competition
Washington Metropolitan Philharmonic (WMP) is a 65-75 member orchestra that
performs in Washington, DC and Alexandria, Virginia (www.wmpamusic.org). The
Philharmonic will conduct its fifth annual composition competition during the 2011-12

winner. WMP will then perform two major works by the winning composer during the
2012-13 concert season.
